WHAT IS DESIGN?
Concept, Production, PerformancePROJECT: Communicate a prediction of the next era in design using the medium as part of the message.
BACKGROUND: In a graduate class about media history, we discussed various social and technological trends and their commonalities. Based on these discussions, I was assigned to create a prediction of the next era in media or design. Part of this assignment was the challenge of using media in a way that expresses a message.
RESULT: This video is a manifesto for design research. It mixes visual media, code, and performance to create a unique motion piece. The computer took a screen shot every 12 seconds (totaling 4 hrs.) and these images were strung together to form an animation of myself performing a manifesto about design using a designers tools.
