INTERACTION
DRUM STOOL
Interaction Design, Product ConceptPROJECT: Design an interactive and tangible interface that allows the user to create their own performance.
BACKGROUND: This project was an experiment in designing a tangible interface using physical computing tools. Drawing from a personal interest in guitar music and performance, a stool was selected to modify into an interface that allows the guitar player to control accompanying drum tracks.
RESULTS: The drum stool allows the performer to control drum tracks by swiveling to different points on the circumference. Since the stools are a common sight on the stage of guitar performers, it becomes a virtually invisible interface. The drum stool was used in a live performance for the Art Center Media Design Program.
